My mother and I have been working on this cookbook for years now. It all started in California while I was making wine in Napa Valley. I was curious to learn more about my heritage in Italy as well as my family's beginnings in America, in the Italian neighborhoods of Smoky Hollow in Youngstown and Larimer Avenue in Pittsburgh.
While searching for more information and learning more about the regions of Italy my family came from, I realized how much food was such a huge part of the story. I also learned more about my family's history in the food and wine business which inspired me to open YOSTERIA.
Creating a family cookbook was something my family had always discussed, I felt obligated to make it happen. Growing up, Christmas and Easter were the best times of the year, and Sundays were also a constant staple. They still bring us together to this day, and it is something I intend to carry forward for years to come. The same vision that helped inspire YOSTERIA is the same vision that helped create this book - creating a sense of community through food and wine.
Stay tuned for more books in the future with various topics. I plan to share much more from my travels in Italy, Napa, New Zealand, and Croatia.
Hope you enjoy!

Being born an Italian -American and a travel lover, half of my heart has always been in Italy. My first visit to Italy was nearly 20 years ago now and I have spent the better part of the last 20 years exploring all the regions of Italy , meeting local people, savoring local cuisine, wine and culture.
My first visit to Sicily was nearly a decade ago and from the moment my foot stepped on Sicilian soil, I was enamored with its people, food, energy , history – the entire soul of Sicilia! Being the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily varies wild from north to south and west to east – I more specifically fell in love with the south eastern corner of the island – the Val di Noto. There are certain places that you travel in the world that suddenly feel like you are at home, and for me Sicily was this place.
Soon I began to search for a piece of Sicily to call “home”. Eventually I settled on small costal town of Scicli and purchased a small home in the ancient historic center.
Since then I have spent many years visiting the region and extensively exploring every aspect of this unique and wonderful place. Recently I had begun to think about my experiences in Sicily and how I wanted others to experience all it has to offer first hand. This was the inspiration for the Sicily revealed trips. A different type of trip where I focus on only a very small group each time allowing others the chance to meet the real people of Sicily, taste authentic simple foods and wines and hopefully leave a piece of their heart in Sicily like I have! Check out Sicily Revealed for more info and updates on the next trips.
